Torah Live Terms of Service

1. About these terms
Torah Live is a registered US charity, EIN 46-0643106, with a registered office at 19 Chiswick Ct, Jackson, NJ 08527, USA. In these terms, "Torah Live", "we" and "us" mean that organization. "You" means anyone who visits our site, uses our apps, or holds an account.
These terms cover our website, our apps including our TV apps, and everything you can do with a Torah Live account or subscription. By using Torah Live you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Torah Live.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information. It's part of these terms.
2. Using Torah Live
Use Torah Live for Torah learning, and keep it respectful. Please don't:
- Try to get into accounts, servers or data that aren't yours.
- Upload viruses or anything built to cause harm.
- Attack the service or interfere with anyone else's use of it.
- Copy, record, republish or redistribute our content. Downloads we offer, like workbooks and printables, are for your own use under your plan's license.
- Charge other people for access to our content, or use it commercially, without our written permission.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. Where the problem is serious or ongoing, we may act right away. We may report illegal activity to the authorities and cooperate with them.
3. Our content, and anything you upload
Ours stays ours. We own or license everything on Torah Live: the videos, workbooks, source sheets, artwork, and the site itself. Your subscription buys a license to watch and use it, described in section 6. It doesn't transfer any ownership to you.
Yours stays yours. You can upload challenge submissions, and you can send us a photo so our team can draw a custom avatar. You keep the rights to anything you upload. You give us permission to store it, showcase it within Torah Live in a manner that is consistent with the options you have selected, and use it to run and present the service.
Only upload things you have the right to upload, and keep them appropriate. We can remove anything that isn't.
4. Your account
Keep your access to yourself. We sign you in with a one-time code sent to your email or phone, so don't pass those codes on and don't give anyone else access to your account.
Who counts as your household. A Family plan covers the people who live under your roof: you, your spouse, and your children at home. Extended family, neighbors, friends, and colleagues need their own subscription.
Teachers, your students can't sign in at home. Student accounts and class access are for the classroom, under your supervision. If a child wants to watch Torah Live at home, their family needs its own Family subscription..
You're responsible for your account. That covers anything done under it, and keeping your email and phone secure. Email team@torahlive.com if you think someone else has got in.
Family profiles. A Family subscription can have a profile for each member of your household. Those profiles sit under your login. They don't have their own email address, phone number, or sign-in, so as the account holder you can see and manage all of them.
Give us real details when you sign up, and keep them current.
5. Kids and student accounts
You need to be 13 to open your own account. Younger than that, ask a parent or guardian to sign up and add you as a profile on their account, or join through your school.
Student accounts. A teacher can invite a student by entering their name and email, or hand the class a code the student uses to sign up. Student accounts have their own login. When a school invites a student or hands out a class code, the school confirms it has the right to sign students up on their parents' behalf.
What a class can see. Inside a class, the teacher and the other students can see a student's name and progress. The teacher can also see the student's email address and message them inside Torah Live.
Submissions from under-16s need a parent's approval. When a user under 16 uploads a submission, we email their parent or guardian for approval before it's posted. Nothing goes live until the parent approves it. If they don't approve it, we delete it.
Parents and guardians. Email team@torahlive.com to see, correct or delete your child's information. If you think a child under 13 has an account without your permission, write to us and we'll remove it.
6. Plans and what your license covers
While your subscription is paid and active, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access, watch, show, play and present Torah Live content. What that license covers depends on your plan.
Family Plan (formerly "Value"). For Family subscriptions bought or renewed on or after August 5, 2026, the license is for personal, non-commercial use by you and the members of your immediate family living in your household. It doesn't cover teaching or group presentation of any kind, including classrooms, schools, camps, synagogue or community programs, youth groups, tutoring, or online classes.
Educator Plan (formerly "Premium"). The Educator license covers teaching and institutional or group use: classrooms, schools, camps, synagogue and community programs, tutoring, and online classes. It's subject to the account, seat and student limits shown when you buy it.
School licenses. A school can buy a license covering a number of teacher seats. The account manager who buys the license is our customer, and is responsible for payment and for how the seats get used. The manager assigns and removes seats. A teacher who loses a seat keeps their own account, profile and data, but loses subscription access until they're given a seat again or subscribe themselves.
Student access. Students in a class get access through their teacher's or school's plan, within that plan's limits, for as long as they're in the class.
Free accounts. You don't need a subscription to open an account. Free accounts can use whatever we've made freely available.
Complimentary accounts. We sometimes grant full access at no charge. Complimentary access is a gift, not a purchase. We can end it at any time without notice, and the payment and renewal terms in section 7 don't apply to it.
7. Paying, renewing and cancelling
Prices. The price, the billing term, and what's included are shown at checkout. Tax is added where it applies.
How you pay. Payments are handled by third party payment providers, including Stripe. Which options you'll see depends on where you are and what you're buying.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically so your access doesn't break. A monthly subscription renews every month and a yearly subscription renews every year, on the same date, charged to your payment method, until you cancel.
Cancelling. Cancel any time in your account settings, or by messaging us. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and we won't charge you again. If we refund a payment based on our refund policy, access ends at that point instead of running to the end of the period.
Refunds. Changed your mind within 7 days of a payment? Email team@torahlive.com and we'll refund it, and your access ends when we do. After 7 days we don't refund the rest of a term, but you're welcome to ask and we'll take a look.
Price changes. We'll email you before a price change affects your renewal, so you've got time to decide.
Trials and promotions. We sometimes run free trials, discounts and promotional pricing. The terms of each are shown when it's offered, and they sit on top of these terms.
Referrals. Refer a friend and you both get something. What that is is shown in the program at the time. A few rules go with it. Only brand new subscribers count, so referring someone who's subscribed before doesn't earn a reward. You can't refer yourself. If a referred subscription is cancelled or refunded soon after it starts, we may withdraw the reward. Rewards apply to your Torah Live account, have no cash value, and can't be transferred. We can change or end the program at any time.
Failed payments. If a payment fails we'll email you. If it isn't sorted within 7 days we may suspend or cancel the subscription.
Buying through a partner. Sometimes you can get Torah Live through a partner organization. When you do, that partner handles payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds under their own terms, so the rest of this section doesn't apply to you. Everything else here still does, including your license, your account, and how we look after kids' data. If your subscription with the partner ends, your Torah Live access ends with it.
Donations. Donations to Torah Live are separate from subscriptions. They don't come with subscription access, and they aren't refundable except at our discretion.
8. Changes to Torah Live and to these terms
The service. We add, change and retire content and features, and what's included in a plan can change. We'll give notice where we reasonably can, but we don't promise that any specific video or feature stays available.
These terms. We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights as a subscriber, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice before it applies to you, by email or on the site. Continuing to use Torah Live after that, including renewing, means you accept the updated terms.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the companies that help us run Torah Live and handle data on our behalf.
10. What we don't promise
We work hard to keep Torah Live accurate and available, and we provide it as it is.
Our content is for general Torah learning and education. It isn't legal, halachic, medical or other professional advice, and shouldn't be relied on as such. We're not responsible for third party sites we link to.
We are not responsible for delays or outages caused by events outside our reasonable control.
TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND REPRESENTATIONS, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY OF DATA, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL RUN WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OR ERRORS.
TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE LESSER OF FIVE TIMES YOUR MOST RECENT MONTHLY OR YEARLY PAYMENT, OR US $1,000.
Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer that can't be limited.
11. Suspension and termination
Deleting your account. You can delete your account in your account settings, or by messaging us. We hold it for 24 hours first, so if you change your mind, just sign back in and the deletion is cancelled. After that it's permanent. Your profiles, progress and submissions go with it, and we can't bring them back.
Deleting your account doesn't refund a subscription, so cancel the subscription too if it's still running. If you're a teacher, deleting your account also removes your students from your classes.
We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if a payment fails, or if we reasonably believe an account is being used in a way its license doesn't cover. If we end access for a breach, we don't refund the remaining time.
When a subscription ends, the license ends with it. Stop using the content and delete any copies you've made.
12. Disputes
We'd much rather sort a problem out directly, in the spirit of Torah. Please email team@torahlive.com first.
If we can't resolve it between us, any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms will be settled by arbitration before the Beth Din of America (bethdin.org), or another beis din chosen by Torah Live, under its rules and procedures. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
Both sides understand that arbitration is the only forum for these disputes, that they're giving up the right to go to court or to other arbitration, and that neither will bring a lawsuit about them.
13. General
Credit where it's due. If you present Torah Live content publicly under an Educator or school license, credit Torah Live as the source and include our logo on materials where it fits naturally.
No transfers. Your account and license are personal to you. You can't transfer or assign them without our written consent.
Waiver. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
Severability. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Third parties. These terms are between you and us. Nobody else can enforce them.
Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Torah Live.
