Smiling

Research shows that smiling can improve our mood and the mood of those around us. It’s clear that it’s a good idea to smile as much as possible, but does Judaism actually have anything to say about this?

Judaism and Smiling

It turns out that many great rabbis have dealt with the relationship between Judaism and smiling. Starting with Pirkei Avos, through the Talmud and all the way up to contemporary times, our heritage pushes us to make others happy, even when our own circumstances are difficult. Smiling is also important in chinuch, whether you are a parent, educator or leader, and in the working world, where a smiling demeanor will bring you greater success.

The Power of a Smile

Look at the people around you and think about the power of a smile and how you can brighten someone’s day and make them feel important. Smiles have so much influence that even when you’re speaking on the phone, the person on the other end can feel your positive energy. When you appreciate how much a smile can affect others, you will naturally smile more.

Like most of us, you probably have worries that can prevent you from smiling. It is important to feel secure that Hashem is in charge and that everything will work out in the end. This will help you let go of your concerns and let that smile out.

Join us on a hike in beautiful Ein Gedi, as we explore the power of smiling and demonstrate how you can enrich the lives of everyone around you.
