Job Description – Director of Development

Mission: Torah Live's mission is to show every Jewish child the sweetness and beauty of being and living as a Jew, using cutting-edge, engaging video content. Torah Live uses the "language" of our generation — video — to capture the hearts and minds of children (and often their parents and grandparents too!), leaving them thirsty for more Torah and mitzvos. Position Overview: The Director of Development will be responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive fundraising and donor engagement strategy to support the growth and sustainability of Torah Live and help Torah Live meet its current $1.4M annual budget. This role will drive both fundraising and “friendraising” initiatives, engaging key stakeholders, and building lasting relationships. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, strategic leader who is passionate about the mission of Torah Live and skilled at inspiring others to contribute to its success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and continually refine a structured and results-driven development program
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive, multi-faceted development plan that balances donor cultivation and stewardship with active fundraising initiatives
  • Leverage Torah Live’s rich array of resources, including videos, brochures, graphics, and multimedia presentations, to make every donor interaction compelling, impactful, and aligned with the organization’s messaging
  • Build and maintain a strong core of lay leaders to assist in development efforts. Inspire and guide volunteers in identifying new donor opportunities, cultivating relationships, and expanding Torah Live’s donor base

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in nonprofit development
  • Self-driven with outgoing, yet poised, personality and exemplary communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in soliciting major gifts of $25,000+
  • Ability to travel regularly to major U.S. and Canadian cities to represent Torah Live in a variety of settings and build strong, personal relationships with key stakeholders
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising tools, donor management software, and best practices in development
  • Strong understanding of the Torah education landscape (preferred)
